Legacy Studio, the minority-owned creative production company founded by Mexican-American author and producer Brian Kryszewski de Ybarrondo, announced today that Emmy nominated actress & producer, Vannessa Vasquez (East Los High 2013-2017, National Treasure 2022, Say a Little Prayer 2024) has joined the studio’s creative incubator, La Creativa, as Executive Producer of its signature historical limited series, La Patria es Primero..
Recognized for her powerful performances in Latinx-centered dramas, Vasquez brings both industry experience and deep cultural insight to the project. The limited series is based on a five-part historical fiction anthology that weaves together untold stories from Mexico, Latin America, Europe, and the U.S. borderlands.
“Vannessa’s commitment to cultural integrity and social impact aligns perfectly with our vision,” said Kryszewski de Ybarrondo. “She understands the emotional power of storytelling in reclaiming identity and history—and her creative instincts are a tremendous asset.”
La Patria es Primero is a sweeping, multigenerational saga rooted in real events and dramatized through deeply human narratives. The five novels—including El General: In the Shadow of Giants, now available in bilingual editions—combine rigorous academic research with cinematic storytelling, designed as production-ready intellectual property for screen adaptation.
All titles are available at briankryszewskideybarrondo.com.
“History teaches with facts, and fiction teaches with feelings,” Kryszewski de Ybarrondo notes. “If we fail to recognize the battles of the past, we’ll experience them again under new names.”
Through La Creativa, Legacy Studio guides projects from concept to screen—bridging historical preservation, screenwriting, development packaging, and licensing. With a focus on generational storytelling and a commitment to elevating underrepresented voices, the studio is building a cross-platform slate for global audiences.
Vasquez’s appointment as Executive Producer marks a pivotal moment in the studio’s expansion into prestige television—uniting visionary talent with stories that honor memory, resistance, and cultural identity.
